Tendercare Health Center - Birchwood is owned by Milwaukee-based Extendicare Health Services Inc. Extendicare operates 33 facilities in Michigan, including three nursing homes in the Traverse City area and one in Gaylord.

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services rate nursing homes from one star (much below average) to five stars (much above average).
