Man allegedly tried to forge prescriptions

FROM STAFF REPORTS

TRAVERSE CITY -- A man who allegedly tried to pass off fake prescriptions faces charges.

James Joseph Adkins, 22, of Traverse City, is charged with possession of less than 25 grams of cocaine and using a counterfeit prescription form.

A pharmacy employee said Adkins presented prescriptions for methadone issued by a doctor. The doctor was contacted and said she never issued the prescriptions, court records show. Adkins allegedly admitted he made the fake slips on his computer.

An April 7 preliminary examination is scheduled.
