TRAVERSE CITY -- A man who allegedly choked a police officer faces a criminal charge.
Ray Alan Weber, 40, of Traverse City, is charged with one count of resisting, assaulting or obstructing a police officer. He faces an April 4 preliminary examination.
Two Grand Traverse County sheriff's deputies went to a residence to respond to a possible assault March 18, court records show. They heard yelling when they arrived, and entered the residence.
Weber allegedly was standing with a beer bottle.
Weber allegedly refused to put down the bottle when asked, and when a deputy approached him he grabbed the deputy by the throat and tried to choke him, records show.
