TRAVERSE CITY -- A foreign relations expert will appear at Northwestern Michigan College to discuss security and immigration in the United States since the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11.
Edward Alden, a senior fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations, will speak March 19 at 6 p.m. in the Milliken Auditorium at NMC's Dennos Museum Center in Traverse City. Tickets are $10 each and are available in advance or at the door.
Alden is the former Washington Bureau chief for the London-based Financial Times newspaper and his most recent book is "The Closing of the American Border: Terrorism, Immigration and Security Since 9/11." He is a frequent guest on PBS' "The News Hour with Jim Lehrer" and the "McLaughlin Group," as well as programs on National Public Radio, the BBC, CNN and MSNBC.
The lecture is part of NMC's 2008-2009 International Affairs Forum series.
