Pool will grow older

Republicans want to repeal Obamacare and replace Medicare with vouchers.

They promise that "nothing will change" for current Medicare beneficiaries or for those between the ages of 55 and 65.

That's not the truth.

Repeal of Obamacare would raise the cost of prescription drugs and eliminate free preventive care.

The Republican plan would stop enrolling new Medicare beneficiaries just 10 years from now.

Younger beneficiaries cost Medicare less than older ones.

With no new beneficiaries, Medicare's cost-per-person would rise dramatically as the pool of remaining beneficiaries grows older and older.

'Family only' section?

Nothing is more disruptive than having little kids in restaurants, which then carry on with their obnoxious behavior and ear-piercing squeals.

But rather than just complain, I have an idea that would be nice to see restaurant owners adopt in an effort to keep both families and adults happy at the same time.

It would be greatly appreciated by the majority of like-minded adults if restaurant owners would try and place families with kids together in a "family only" section, and/or establish an "adults only" section of their restaurant, much like we used to have "smoking" and "non-smoking" areas to appease both groups.

Doing that would allow families with little kids to entertain each other, rather than annoy the rest of us so we could then enjoy a quiet meal and hear each others' conversations.

As it is, every time little kids get out of control in a restaurant, I simply tell the waitress to move myself and those in my party to another area with no kids.

This puts a hardship on the wait staff instead of on the parents where it belongs.

"Dining at Daycare" benefits no one.
