Reject political pollution

It has come to my attention that some would-be politicians have already begun mailings and sign planting. This blight to our landscape and undesirable influx to our mail boxes needs to be dealt with. If you receive this any of this, remember to put these people on your list to vote against. We need to make it known that a few weeks is one thing but months of this pollution will not be tolerated. Cast your vote for a reasonable person.

Hat etiquette in the past

When I was a young man, my parents taught me the proper behavior for a gentleman was to remove his hat when entering a building. This behavior was further enforced upon entering the military.

The other evening we had a dinner at what I believe is one of the area's finer restaurants. Apparently, the parents of diners at this restaurant did not instruct their children, nor were they probably in the military.

Am I the only one who feels this behavior is not today's norm?

Are restaurant owners or managers afraid to ask their guests to remove their hats while eating? I would hope not.
