Parker taught many
While visiting Traverse City recently, I noted the passing of educator Betty Parker at the age of 99. I had the good fortune to teach with her at Traverse City High School from 1965 to 1982. During that time I was privileged to have lunch with Betty and with Eleanor Stocking nearly every day and considered them both as mentors. What a joy it was to share stories and teaching strategies. Think how many students she touched in her 18 years of teaching English in Traverse City and how much she enjoyed teaching.
I expect a large number of her former students will attend her service Aug. 15, a testimonial to her leadership of all of us. "To teach is to touch a life." She certainly touched mine.
