Police should tell them

This is in regards to the traffic in and around Traverse City.

Do people know what the signals on their car are for, using them when making a left turn or a right turn? If not, the police should tell them.

Also, they should not drive 25 mph in a 45-mph speed zone. If they are afraid of driving, they should take a bus. But it’s so disgusting to have a slow driver in front of you.

Also, cars have been passing me on a curve and a double yellow line. This has happened on Supply Road and Hobbs Highway. Very dangerous.

And it does not matter if one drives the speed limit, there is always a car passing with a higher speed.

Had to get this off my chest.

Column didn’t help

I want to thank Deborah Gilbert for her Oct. 23 letter in the Record-Eagle. She expressed my sentiments exactly when I read columnist Doug Patton a couple of weeks ago.

When I read my paper at 6 a.m. that day, I couldn’t believe that my newspaper of 40 years would publish such a hateful column about a sitting President of the United States. Because I don’t use a computer, I had to wait until 8 a.m. that morning to call to voice my displeasure.

When one of my calls to the editors was returned later in the day, I was told that columns about our former president had also been hateful. That didn’t make me any happier.

Our country and government needs to come together in shared compromise. Publishing of a column calling President Obama a “Chicago thing,” is not helping.

When is enough?

I just read in an article in the Record-Eagle that the population of the United Kingdom is about 64,000,000. What is significant about that number? That is the number of pre-born babies that we have killed in the last 40 years of legal abortions.

When will that be enough?
