Leave Center on bay
As a user of the Senior Center I have followed recent discussions, ranging from rumors to actual proposals, about moving the Senior Center to a location with more room. Invariably, a cheap, out-of-the way spot. Did the powers-that-be ever mention what they intended on doing with the beautiful, bayfront property that has been the home of the Senior Center since before I can remember? I’m betting they would like to sell the property to private interests for a lot of money.
Based on the front-page story “TC Senior Center to receive face-lift,” it would appear our Senior Center will remain at its present location for a while, at least. I hope it is a long time before I hear the next rumor about moving it.
Cuba favors foreigners
On May 16 the Fourth U.S. Court of Appeals heard arguments from Liberty University to get Obamacare ruled unconstitutional, and so we can have guarded optimism that it will.
Meanwhile, I think people need to know how a national health care system shows favoritism and totally neglects everybody else. The photos at http://www.therealcuba.com/Page10.htm shows the conditions of health care in Cuba on the Cubans (some of the photos are not for the squeamish) and favors foreign visitors with the best available, proving Michael Moore was deceived when shown only the best while he was there.
Time to say ‘no’
Northwestern Michigan College has just raised their tuition costs by 2 percent, 4 percent and nearly 32 percent for some specialty classes. Then later this summer they are requesting the voters to approve another millage increase.
We voters in Grand Traverse County are getting hit twice by NMC (higher taxes plus higher tuition).
I think it’s time to tell NMC “no” on their millage proposal.
