Don't just sit there
Inflation, what's next for our great Republic. Try YouTube and check out hyperinflation nation, talks about our government and printing money. Nothing is free, there is a cost to you, your children and our grandchildren. The facts are there, don't just sit there while our nation moves in a bad direction. We have a printing press and no gold standard to back our dollars, please call and write your congress people and voice your opinion on the direction they are moving.
The "cap-and-trade" bill also proves to be a killer to our Republic and the state of Michigan; we have no balanced budget in Michigan and we'll never see one in the Federal government because they don't have to balance the budget, just spent our tax dollars for clunkers, bail out banks, car companies and Wall St, shame on Congress.
Check out YouTube, Congressman Mike Rogers from Michigan and see what he has to say about Michigan and cap and trade; this guy's a keeper!
Facts are there for all of us, get informed, find the facts, our Republic needs you.

Where's common sense?
I am ecstatic that my elected county board has determined I can afford to generously shower them and my county workers with compensation increases at this time.
My Social Security is frozen for the next year, my home value is considerably less, my property taxes increased, my IRAs lost 40 percent and Michigan has the highest unemployment rate in the nation. But that's OK, let's give everyone that works for us raises anyway.
What are they thinking about? Where is their common sense? Why do they think that one person in the county would vote for them in the future?
Unfortunately we now have to live with their errors and our only option is to replace them at the next election with a board that has some management skills and common sense.

Never a good ending
I worked long hours on the Obama campaign to get us out of unnecessary, unwinnable wars that drain the economy, morality and credibility of a Democratic nation. Why then is Mr. Obama such a turnface on this issue?
Is it because the war profiteers in the military industrial complex along with the Federal Reserve really run this country? They are the only ones who gain from this massive mistake that will never have a good ending, making more enemies faster than we can kill them, and creating a more unstable region that has never been conquered though tried by many other world powers.
I support the bills that will stop more foolish war expansions in Afghanistan, Iraq or anywhere else that we don't belong as the world's moral police. America doesn't belong in foreign nations, setting our agenda to a population that only wants food and shelter, never understanding corrupted puppet Democratic governments.

Vote is important
Be aware that the Nov. 3 election includes a millage proposal for East Bay Township. This millage would increase your property taxes for five years. Its purpose is to repair, maintain and improve local roads within the township.
Please vote Nov. 3. Your vote is very important.

A higher standard?
Regarding the recent charges filed against District Court Referee Dennis Mikko:
I have been in Dennis Mikko's courtroom more times than I care to mention with custody issues.
He has been consistently dismissive, judgmental, opinionated and, frankly, arrogant. If I have had my life and the lives of my children decided by a potential pedophile then I have a serious issue with the entire court and friend of the court system.
Who could honestly say they feel good about a decision made by this man. He has had a profound affect on my life as well as many friends and acquaintances and our children with decisions regarding custody. Are we to presume his judgement has been unclouded by his "affliction"?
Can I now have a review of the decisions made by Dennis Mikko or will the court dismiss this as an isolated incident without prejudice toward those affected by his decisions?
Can we as citizens enforce the ethic that we hold our judges and court officials to a higher standard? How about a non-pedophile standard. How low will we go?
I for one will want to meet with all of those who feel as I do and take appropriate action.

Check the label
It was said that eight of the 10 best selling cars sold during the Cash for Clunkers promotion were foreign cars.
Not so. Hyundai, Toyota, Kia and Honda all have factories here in the U.S.A., and all of those employees pay Social Security, federal and state taxes.
Also local property taxes where they live.
You may want to check the label on the door of your car. Lots of "American" brands are made on foreign soil!

Worship in private
I want to applaud your editorial regarding keeping prayer private.
Too often the assumption is made that one person's religion is the religion of all.
In fact, we are a nation of great diversity, including those with no religious beliefs at all, and our founding fathers purposely designed our system of government to separate religion from matters of state.
In this way, everyone's personal beliefs are respected. Everyone is free to worship (or not worship) as they wish; however, such worship should take place in private, not as part of government business.

Stunning to hear
Ask a Canadian about their government health care.
I asked a middle-aged customs woman in a Canadian airport, and she laughed at me.
She said, "We buy our own insurance or go over to the States for medical care."
She also added, "You could die over here before you get treated."
It was stunning to hear a Canadian government employee say that.
