First step to protect

This is in regard to the June 25 forum by Saul Anuzis. The proposed law would kill jobs.

First, the son of a Bush and friends spent eight years decimating labor laws. As a result, corporations dominate the National Labor Relations Board, the organization designed for worker protection.

Then he claims the demise of General Motors is based on American workers. What about the stock market, two wars, skyrocketing oil or outsourcing? Our pitiful politicians have given away everything we stand for and opened our borders as a dumping ground.

He then has the audacity to blame this crisis on the American worker. Unions do not have bosses; they have elected representatives. In fact, unions are the only thread left holding our despicable cooperate bought-off politicians to any degree of accountability.

That's what Anuzis is concerned about. Corporate America has lined his and his colleagues' pockets so full of money they have betrayed America and its work force.

Apparently, Anuzis does not believe Americans deserve a retirement, health care or a decent living. We now have a president who is concerned about the average American, which is what the Employee Free Choice Act is all about.

Call your senator today.

Bums and trash

I am not a boater, nor a beach-sitter, but I do run on West End, the volleyball beach and Clinch beach almost every morning. I never see trash floating around the anchored boats (quit complaining about the boats), but every day I see trash from the beach-sitters/swimmers.

On June 24, the volleyball beach looked like Cherry Festival week. Who do they think will clean this up? Certainly not the homeless people I see sleeping overnight on the beaches who pick up beach-sitter's returnables and leave the trash!

Get up early and check this mess out ... bums and trash ... welcome to beautiful Traverse City!
