Will they come back?

With regard to fining the RVs: I think a $100 fine is a grand idea; matter of fact you should make it a $1,000 fine and confiscate their RV.

That will surely make them want to come back to Traverse City and spend their money.

What's going on?

I remember years ago reading "Silent Spring" by Rachel Carson, and also remember when the DDT trucks came through town my mother would tell us to quickly shut the windows.

These days, I'm not aware of any sort of pesticide application other than the lawn-care companies, but something is going on. I feel as though I'm living in an artificial reality ... picture pretty lawns and gardens, but no butterflies or bees or dragonflies, etc.

In the '50s I can remember seeing huge moths, praying mantises, toads, garden snakes and thousands of monarch butterflies, and I lived in town. So, What is happening?

No cap and trade

Most Americans have no idea what will happen if the new carbon tax called cap and trade becomes law. Currently four out of every 10,000 molecules in the air are carbon dioxide. We must have some carbon dioxide or all of the plants will die. The original proposals included charging farmers a tax because their cows and hogs were belching, that's how foolish this law is.

The goal is to have government control of carbon dioxide emissions and tax accordingly, which would be the biggest environmental boondoggle of all time. Legislation is now moving quickly through the House.

As proposed, each homeowner could pay as much as $3,000 per year as a result of this legislation.

Contact your legislators now before they sign another disastrous bill that they haven't read.
