---- — PLAINFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — Western Michigan authorities say two men from Traverse City were killed when a pickup truck rear-ended their car after it stopped for traffic.
MLive.com says the crash happened about 8 a.m. Tuesday on U.S. 131 in Kent County's Plainfield Township, about 7 miles north of Grand Rapids.
Authorities identify the victims as 49-year-old John Pomeroy and 30-year-old William Kochis. They say there was a traffic backup on southbound U.S. 131 and the men's car stopped, but a fast-moving pickup didn't brake and slammed into the car.
Police say the 57-year-old Sparta man driving the pickup was among several people who were injured. Police say seven vehicles in all were involved in the crash, which remains under investigation.
