TRAVERSE CITY -- Grand Traverse County sheriff's deputies found a boy, 5, asleep in a parked truck with an intoxicated man behind the wheel when they pulled up to the Mayfield Country Store in Kingsley.
The boy's father, a Kingsley man, 35, faces his third drunken driving offense, as well as citations for driving with a suspended license, having an open alcohol container in his vehicle and child endangerment after the March 21 incident, sheriff's Capt. Randy Fewless said.
A citizen called deputies to report an unresponsive man in a truck outside the store at about 11:15 p.m., Fewless said. Deputies and a Kingsley ambulance responded, woke the man and found him to be intoxicated.
The boy's mother picked him up from the scene, Fewless said.
