TRAVERSE CITY – The spring’s first severe weather could hit the Grand Traverse region today.
Justin Arnott, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service office in Gaylord, said northern Michigan is “under the gun” for showers and thunderstorms starting around 1 or 2 p.m.
“Most likely there’s some potential for large hail and damaging winds,” he said. “It doesn’t look like it will be real widespread.”
Arnott said the chance of severe weather, including tornadoes, increases south of M-32. He said Tuesday and Wednesday could also have severe weather before cooler weather returns heading into the weekend.
“It’s not out of the realm of possibility that we have to deal with morning frost again,” he said.
