Neal Ronquist named Record-Eagle publisher

TRAVERSE CITY — Neal Ronquist has been named publisher of the Traverse City Record-Eagle. His appointment is effective Feb. 11.

Ronquist is a 22-year veteran of the newspaper industry who most recently was group publisher of five daily newspapers in central Indiana including the Chronicle-Tribune in Marion.

"Neal is an excellent newspaper executive, and I am confident that he will do an outstanding job in his new role," said Henry Bird, a senior vice president of Community Newspaper Holdings Inc., in announcing Ronquist's appointment. "Neal has a great deal of experience, a track record of success and that rare combination of talent and enthusiasm that will enable him to make a significant contribution to the communities we serve."

During his newspaper career, Ronquist has worked extensively on the editorial and commercial sides of the business. He also has served as publisher of the Russellville, Ark., Courier and the Austin, Minn., Daily Herald.

"I am thrilled to be taking over management of a great newspaper in such a wonderful market," Ronquist said. "I very much look forward to working with the staff and the community."

Ronquist is a Minnesota native. He and his wife, Renae, have two children.
