Two injured in Leelanau crash

CEDAR — Poor weather conditions contributed to a two-vehicle crash in Leelanau County that left two women injured, authorities said.

The crash occurred Tuesday afternoon on Bright Road north of Kasson Road. Emergency responders found one driver, a Kasson Township woman, 56, pinned in her vehicle and a Maple City woman, 47, who drove the other vehicle, also injured.

Authorities believe both vehicles drove through weather conditions that significantly reduced visibility. It appears both moved toward the center of the road to avoid snowbanks that narrowed the road.

The drivers were transported to Munson Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. No citations were issued and the crash remains under investigation.
