Man dies in Acme crash

TRAVERSE CITY — One man is dead after a multi-vehicle crash in Acme Township today.

Grand Traverse Sheriff's officials responded to a collision near the intersection of U.S. 31 North and Five Mile Road at 5:19 p.m.

"A southbound heavy-equipment truck collided with a northbound pickup," sheriff's Sgt. Jim Drogowski said. "It looks like the northbound pickup lost control and crossed the centerline. The lone occupant (in the northbound pickup) was an adult male and is the fatality victim."

Icy conditions were a factor in the crash, Drogowski said.

Authorities did not immediately identify the man who died in the crash.
