TRAVERSE CITY -- Rain and warm temperatures are in the forecast for tonight and tomorrow, but the warmth will be short-lived.
Rain showers are possible beginning at about 4 p.m. today, and the chance of rain will increase later in the evening and linger throughout the week, according to the National Weather Service in Gaylord.
The Grand Traverse region could see up to an inch of rain through Friday.
Meteorologist Jeff Lutz said a solid band of rain showers will move into the Traverse City area tonight along with a warm front. The showers tonight could drop up to a quarter of an inch of rain, but there is not a high chance of flooding, Lutz said.
Temperatures will hover around 42 degrees tonight and could climb close to 60 degrees Tuesday and Wednesday, Lutz said. A large area of low pressure will cause temperatures to drop come Thursday.
"This is the beginning of what's going to end up being a cool, rainy, off-and-on sort of week," Lutz said.
