Arrested woman kicks out police car window

TRAVERSE CITY — A woman arrested during disturbance complaint investigation now faces charges for kicking out the windows of a police car.

Katrina Brown, 26, faces charges of malicious destruction of police property, and resisting and obstructing police, court records state. The felonies carry maximum prison sentences of four and two years, respectively.

Traverse City Police officers arrested Brown on an outstanding warrant Nov. 6 while responding to a disturbance complaint on East Eighth Street, according to police records.

Officers placed Brown in the back of a patrol car. She then kicked out the car’s driver’s side rear window.

Traverse City police Capt. Brian Heffner said the incident resulted in about $220 worth of damage to the car. Heffner said the department has to replace a “couple” of patrol car windows each year because of such incidents.
