TRAVERSE CITY — The cash reward in the search for a motorist who hit and killed a local bicyclist increased again to $50,000.
Kelly Ann Boyce, 29, was riding her bicycle home from work July 5 when a vehicle struck her from behind on the 600 block of Washington Street and dragged her for more than a block.
The Traverse City Police Department logged more than 210 tips from the public in their investigation as of Thursday morning. Capt. Brian Heffner said officers are following up on all the leads, starting with the most substantive and promising.
“We’re kind of triaging tips as they come,” Heffner said.
The reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the wanted driver increased to $50,000, based on $27,500 in online donations through Quarter After Entertainment, a $2,500 offer by the Silent Observer Program and a $10,000 donation by Frankfort-based Graceland Fruit, where Boyce’s sister Nicole Nostrandt works.
Restaurant owner Wayne Lobdell also donated $10,000 through the Traverse City State Bank reward fund on Thursday. Boyce worked for two restaurants owned by Lobdell.
Police are asking anyone with information about the incident or anyone traveling on or near Washington Street at about 1:50 a.m. to contact investigators.
