Victims identified in Kalkaska crash

TRAVERSE CITY — Authorities identified two people killed in a Kalkaska County crash as Timothy and Cheryl Driscoll, both of Livonia.

Authorities said Timothy Driscoll, 20, on Monday drove a 1997 Saturn Monday that traveled through a stop sign at Plum Valley Road and U.S. 131. The vehicle was struck by a semi-tractor trailer traveling south on U.S. 131.

Cheryl Driscoll, 47, was sitting in the vehicle’s rear seat. She and Timothy Driscoll were killed upon impact.

A third occupant of the Saturn, Thomas Almas, 19, of Livonia, was critically injured.

The collision caused the semi-tractor trailer, driven by Daniel Dinger, 48, of Gaylord, to strike a northbound 2004 Chrysler mini-van driven by Kathryn Nixon, 54, of Traverse City. Nixon and a passenger in the van, Clark Bowman, 62, of Burt Lake, were hospitalized in stable condition at Munson Medical Center.

Dinger suffered minor injuries.

Kalkaska County Undersheriff Abe DeVol said an investigation continues.
