Prints lead to burglary suspect

TRAVERSE CITY — Grand Traverse sheriff's detectives used finger prints collected at the scene of a crime to identify a burglary suspect.

Rachel Oblinsky, 25, is charged with first- and second-degree counts of home invasion, and with receiving and concealing stolen property, according to court records. She has not been arrested.

A local couple returned from a December vacation and realized a handgun, several pieces of jewelry, a check and other property were missing from their Scharmen Road home, which the couple had left unlocked.

Sheriff's investigators collected finger prints from a jewelry box at the scene and sent the prints to Michigan State Police in Grayling for analysis.

Testing results showed the prints matched Oblinsky's, who lives near the theft victims.

Authorities previously charged another person, Heather Oblinsky with forging a check missing from the victims' home.

Heather Oblinsky, 21, pleaded not guilty to the charge. Her case is pending in 13th Circuit Court.

A third individual, Lonnie Grady, 24, is charged with receiving and concealing stolen property. Grady and Rachel Oblinsky sold jewelry taken from the victims to Coins and Collectibles, authorities contend.
