Fatal crash closes stretch of M-72

KALKASKA — A Waterford man died in a two-vehicle crash on M-72 east of Kalkaska.

The crash occurred today at 9:55 a.m. east of Baker Road. Sheriff Dave Israel said it appears a Ford Focus driven by a 65-year-old Waterford man crossed the center line and hit an eastbound SUV.

Israel said the woman driving the SUV was transported to Munson Medical Center.

Both lanes of M-72 have been closed while deputies investigate the crash.
