---- — TRAVERSE CITY — Utility crews are working to restore power to thousands of Old Mission Peninsula residents.
More than 3,300 Consumers Energy and 1,400 Traverse City Light & Power customers lost power when lightning struck and downed a Consumers power line. The Consumers line fell on a distribution line shared by both electricity providers.
Some Consumers customers south of the peninsula also lost power.
Crews should have power restored by early afternoon, officials said.
A storm system moved into the Grand Traverse region last night. Meteorologists predict storms and rain will conclude around 11:30 a.m., with a chance of sporadic storms popping up throughout the day.
