Canoeing accident victims' names released

GLEN ARBOR — Leelanau County sheriff's officials released the name of an Ann Arbor boy who died after a canoe overturned in chilly Lake Michigan waters.

Stephen William-Osler Easter, 8, died Monday from hypothermia. His father William Benjamin Osler, 48, was treated at Munson Medical Center for exposure and hypothermia and released Tuesday.

The father and son canoed Monday from D.H. Day Campground in Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore to North Manitou Island. They were on their return trip when their boat overturned in rough, 55-degree water about a half-mile from shore.
