Video: Police seek coin theft suspects

TRAVERSE CITY — Police seek help finding two suspects who stole $100 in coins from a coin box at Traverse City car wash.

Traverse City Police Capt. Mike Ayling said the May 29 theft from the Garfield Plaza Auto Wash appears linked to other incidents in Grayling, Lowell and Ludington. He said security video shows a suspect retrieve money from a coin box that should be tamper-proof.

“Apparently, he’s sliding something in (the) machine that releases $100 of quarters,” he said.

The video shows two suspects who match descriptions and footage from the other larcenies. They’re driving an older model four-door sedan.

People with information are asked to call Traverse City police at 231-947-TIPS (8477).
