TRAVERSE CITY — The public is invited to walk barefoot today through downtown Traverse City as part of United Way’s fourth annual One Day Without Shoes.
Participants will leave United Way offices at noon and head out together for a shoe-less saunter. Organizers hope the cold and uncomfortable walk will help raise awareness of those in need. Small items, such as shoes, can make a tremendous difference in someone’s life.
Following the walk, participants are invited to enjoy warm drinks and treats provided by Golden Shoes, the local retailer for TOMS shoes, which donates one pair of shoes for every pair that’s sold.
United Way of Northwest Michigan is located at 521 S. Union Street, where the walk begins and ends.
