Power back on after outages

TRAVERSE CITY — Power has been restored to nearly all of the more than 3,200 Consumers Energy customers who were affected by outages in Grand Traverse County Tuesday, according to the utility's website.

Several outages hit parts of Garfield Township, Old Mission Peninsula and Traverse City shortly after 4:30 p.m. Most customers were back up and running by about 9:30 Tuesday night.

"Our preliminary investigation shows a break in a 46,000 volt line, likely caused by ... high electric demand," Consumers Energy's Senior Public Information Director Roger Morgenstern said in an email.
