United Way of Northwest Michigan director resigns

TRAVERSE CITY — United Way of Northwest Michigan’s executive director has resigned.

Steve Wade, the organization’s head since 2008, accepted a position with the Grand Traverse Regional Community Foundation.

The United Way of Northwest Michigan is searching for a new executive director, Board of Directors President Matt Classens stated in a letter.

Wade’s last day with United Way is July 19.

He said his decision to leave had nothing to do with the United Way and said his departure will not negatively affect the organization.

“I don’t think the community is going to miss a beat in terms of the services they expected from the United Way,” Wade said.
