Debra Norman, principal at Lake Ann Elementary School, wrote to thank Scott and Deb Talquist from Just Mulch for providing the school with the equipment and manpower to keep its pond and waterfall operating.
“Without their help, our nature area would be natural — overgrown and in need of repair. Thank you!” Debra wrote.
Sally Hanley wrote on behalf of the Grand Traverse Baby Pantry to thank Tom’s Food Markets, Oleson’s Food Stores, Family Fare on East Eighth Street, St. Francis Parish, The Presbyterian Church, Bethlehem Lutheran Church and Small Wonders Consignment and Resale Shop for hosting donation boxes for the pantry’s successful Diaper Drive in April
Sally noted that 112 packages of diapers were collected for the Grand Traverse Baby Pantry allowing it to meet the needs of the more than 70 families who visit each time the pantry is open.
“This is a generous community which recognizes the importance of supporting families in early childhood,” Sally wrote.
Corinna Balentine is the leader of Girl Scout Daisy Troop 4258 at Grand Traverse Academy. Her Scouts are kindergarten and first grade students 5 to 7 years old. This year, these young girls decided that they would use proceeds from cookie sales to help area homeless and the Cherryland Humane Society and Corinna would like to acknowledge their accomplishment.
“We contacted the Goodwill Inn and the Cherryland Humane Society for a list of items needed and the girls went shopping at Meijer and purchased $500 in products for each organization,” Corinna wrote. “The girls sold cookies door to door and held several cookie sales booths to raise the money used.”
The troop includes Averie McGraw, Snowelle Grewe, Lauryn Hudson, Samantha Foley, Ava Blain, Addison Balentine, Sahara Valliere, Savhannah Valliere, Shaquita Shananaquet, Autumn Sherwin, Chloe Sherwin, Lilia Schook, Hunter St. Peter, and Sophia Gray.
