Group works to halt invasive plants' spread

TRAVERSE CITY — Landscape professionals who work in Benzie, Grand Traverse, Leelanau, and Antrim counties are invited to register for Go Beyond Beauty, a new program of the Northwest Michigan Invasive Species Network.

The registration deadline is June 17. Program registrants commit not to purchase or plant invasive ornamental plants. Visit HabitatMatters.org and click on Go Beyond Beauty to learn more.

Several area nurseries already have committed to the project, including: Bellwether Gardens, Garden Goods, Greystone Gardens, Green Lake Gardens & Goods, Northwoods Landscape & Nursery, Misty Ridge Greenhouse, Four Seasons Nursery and Pine Hill (Traverse City and Kewadin locations), said Matthew Bertrand, invasive species specialist for the Grand Traverse Conservation District.
