---- — Woman arrested after three-vehicle crash

INTERLOCHEN — Authorities arrested a Traverse City woman for operating a vehicle while intoxicated after a three-vehicle crash that seriously injured one person.

The crash occurred Saturday on U.S. 31 just east of Sullivan Road in Green Lake Township about 7:34 a.m.

Police said a vehicle driven west by Kenneth Gielda, 45, of Traverse City, had stopped to pull into a business. A second vehicle, driven west by the suspect, struck Gielda’s car, pushed it across the center line and into the path of an eastbound vehicle.

Gielda was transported to Munson Medical Center with serious injuries, police said. He was listed in fair condition on Monday.

The driver of the east vehicle, Wendy Papineau, 44, of Benzonia, and a child passenger declined medical treatment.

Police said the suspect, 34, was arrested for operating while intoxicated causing serious injury, driving with a suspended license, driving without insurance and with expired registration.
