KALKASKA -- A woman died in a three-vehicle crash in Kalkaska County.
The woman, 68, was an occupant in a vehicle driven by a Brighton man, 73, on M-72 near Blue Lake Road in Kalkaska County’s Bear Lake Township on Friday afternoon. Michigan State Police had not identified the victim by mid-day Saturday, but said the Brighton man was driving east on M-72 when he lost control of the vehicle and it crossed the centerline.
The vehicle struck a pickup truck that was headed east and was driven by a South Boardman man, 23. A third vehicle, driven by a Grand Rapids man, 23, also was involved in the crash.
The woman passenger was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver from Brighton was taken to Munson Medical Center with what authorities said were serious injuries.
No other injuries were reported.
Police said speed and road conditions contributed to the crash.
