TRAVERSE CITY — One of three suspects accused in an attempted robbery and stabbing on Northwestern Michigan College’s campus pleaded guilty to assault charges.
Antonio Fabio Orozco, 18, faced assault with intent to murder and other criminal charges for a Jan. 31 attack on an Indiana man.
All but two charges — assault with intent to rob while armed and assault with intent to do bodily harm — were dismissed after Orozco entered guilty pleas in 13th Circuit Court.
His co-defendants in the stabbing — Jorge-Antonio Lopez Alvarado, 21, and Jorge Alberto Vasquez-Antonio, 15 — are scheduled to appear in 86th District Court today for a preliminary examination.
A woman accused of conspiring to help the three men — Alyssa Ann Rodriquez, 18 — also is set to appear in a preliminary hearing today.
Grand Traverse County Prosecutor Bob Cooney said he expects at least two suspects to waive the hearing. He said pretrial conferences in 13th Circuit Court likely will be held later this week.
Another woman accused of helping the suspects — Ashley Ann Day, 21 — is scheduled for a plea hearing in 13th Circuit Court on May 9.
Orozco’s sentencing is scheduled for May 2.
