TRAVERSE CITY — The public is invited to an educational forum on gun violence featuring a discussion by local speakers.
The forum will take place Oct. 7 at 6:30 p.m. in the Unitarian Universalist Congregational building at 6726 Center Road in Traverse City. A 5 p.m. display and discussion of firearm types will be presented by attorney David Bieganowski, a gun expert and gun safety instructor.
A panel discussion will address gun violence from non-partisan perspectives and answer screened questions. Speakers are Bieganowski, Grand Traverse County Sheriff Tom Bensley, Peter Wolcott, formerly of the State Department in Australia, and Steve Cook, chair of the Michigan Education Association.
The forum is co-sponsored by the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Grand Traverse, Episcopal Peace Fellowship and Grace Episcopal Church, Traverse Area Interfaith Peace Fellowship and Veterans for Peace. Admission is free but donations are welcome.
