Nominate an outstanding educator

TRAVERSE CITY — Traverse Bay Area Intermediate School District wants to hear from the community about area educators who have made a difference.

The school district is accepting nominations for its Outstanding Educator Awards in collaboration with the Traverse City Area Chamber of Commerce and TBA Credit Union. The awards are presented annually to teachers, administrators and school support staff who go above and beyond to educate students throughout the five-county Traverse Bay region.

Nominees should have a minimum of five years experience in education, contribute to the academic success of students and work collaboratively with other educators in the TBAISD service area.

“It’s a really nice opportunity for us to recognize teachers and principles and support staff that are really doing a nice job,” TBAISD Assistant Superintendent Jason Jeffrey said. “We have a pretty well-oiled criteria and we think that we are really picking good people to recognize based on their work.”

Each nomination must include a letter of support from the nominee’s supervisor, as well as letters from students and parents. Jeffrey said nomination packets are limited to 5-6 pages and also may include data such as student performance numbers.

A panel of representatives from the Chamber of Commerce, TBA Credit Union and the school district will select the honorees.

The deadline to submit a nomination is April 21. The award ceremony will be June 4.
