Snyder, Stabenow slated to speak at Helen Milliken service

TRAVERSE CITY — United States Sen. Debbie Stabenow and Gov. Rick Snyder are among those expected to speak at a Monday, June 3, memorial service for former Michigan First Lady Helen Milliken.

Long-time Traverse City resident Milliken died Nov. 16. She was the wife of Gov. William Milliken. Their close friend Joyce Braithwaite-Brickley also is expected to speak at the service set for June 3 at 1:30 p.m. at the Milliken Auditorium of the Dennos Museum at Northwestern Michigan College in Traverse City.

Braithwaite-Brickley said of the service: "Helen was so full of grace. She cared so much for others all the days of her life. Now those she helped so much in many ways, with such diligence and dedication, will have the opportunity to gather in thankfulness to her on June 3."
