TRAVERSE CITY -- A Kingsley man faces charges after his ex-girlfriend reported he broke into her home.
Trevor Michael Walton, 25, was arrested after a woman told authorities he barged into her home, threw her into a table, and threatened to kill her, according to a Grand Traverse County sheriff’s report.
Walton pleaded guilty to domestic violence charges against the woman a year ago and was in violation of his probation when he appeared at her residence.
He faces home invasion, domestic violence, and interfering with electronic communications charges and up to 20 years in jail. This is his third domestic violence offense.
“Some of the most dangerous times for victims is when the relationships is over and the abuser doesn’t have control any more,” said Noelle Moeggenberg, Grand Traverse County’s chief assistant prosecutor. “It’s the classic case of he can’t let her go.”
The victim told police she tried to call 911 when Walton entered her home, but he grabbed the phone from her, according to the report.
Walton has a preliminary hearing scheduled for Dec. 26.
