TRAVERSE CITY — A local company has big plans for a half-acre parcel on Bay Street.
The Harper Companies plan a mixed-use, three-story development at Bay and Randolph streets in Traverse City. Harper Companies co-owner Terry Harper said the development, called 537 Bay Street, will feature 4,500-square feet of office space and eight luxury condominiums.
All of the residential and office space will have views of West Grand Traverse Bay. Tom Krause of Krause Realty Solutions facilitated the sale from TBA Credit Union, which owns a branch there.
“The view is irreplaceable,” Krause said. “It’s also on the TART trail and close to downtown and it’s not noisy. You are downtown in two minutes on a pedal bike and don’t have the noise.”
The credit union branch will be demolished. The sale is scheduled to close in April.
“I think it will be a change in use in the property and bring more residences to that part of town, along with a little more life to that section of Bay Street,” Harper said.
The eight condominium units come with a preconstruction price in the $700,000s for a 1,723-square-foot, two-bedroom, two-bath unit.
The Harper Companies is co-owned by Amy LeJeune Harper and includes Harper Custom Homes and Harper Contractors.
