TRAVERSE CITY - Marjorie Rich has announced her resignation from the Traverse City Area Public Schools Board of Education.

Rich served as a board trustee for six years, holding positions of president, vice president and secretary. She cited the demands of a new job as the reason for her resignation effective Jan. 1.

The vacated seat will be filled on an interim basis until the next school board election in November 2014. The process for selecting an interim member will be discussed at the Dec. 9 Board of Education meeting. The seat is expected to be filled by February 1, 2014.
