Leelanau Christian Neighbors sends a heartfelt thank-you to the citizens of Leelanau County for their generosity at food drives held recently. The food drives were sponsored by the Leelanau County Democratic Party and generously hosted by five area grocery stores.

A total of 902 pounds of food and $514 was donated at The Leland Mercantile and Hansen’s in Suttons Bay, which was given to Leelanau Christian Neighbors’ food pantries in Suttons Bay and Northport. The Empire Area Food Pantry at Glen Lake Reformed Church received $785 and 384 pounds of food collected at Deerings in Empire, Anderson’s IGA in Glen Arbor, and Buntings Cedar Market.

These totals will help both of the food pantries qualify for the 16th annual Feinstein Challenge, which awards grants to qualifying food pantries.
