ST. IGNACE -- Traverse City Central will see a familiar foe in Saturday's Division 2 regional hockey finale.
The Trojans beat Negaunee 4-0 Thursday afternoon to set up a rematch with Midland in the championship game at Howe Arena.
A year ago, Midland beat Central 5-4 in four overtimes for the regional title.
"They've got a strong team," Central coach Chris Givens said. "They only lost three or four players (off last year's squad).
"We'll have to continue to play well. This is the spot you want to be in."
The Trojans (17-7-2) controlled the pre-regional with Negaunee, outshooting the Miners 63-8.
Kyle Ulrich scored in the first period to stake Central to a 1-0 lead. Derek Gardiner and Max Schank assisted.
Adam Swy made it 2-0 in the second period, scoring off assists from Eric Swy and Alex Wietrick.
Wietrick tallied in the third period with Eric Swy and Dane Macdonell assisting.
Devin Senchuk closed out the scoring with 1:40 remaining. Alex Fitzhugh and Jared VanWormer drew the assists.
Hunter Kelly had the shutout in goal.
