---- — Mary Hunsberger Link and Karen Schubert Foley identified their father in the History Center of Traverse City archive photo in the April 16 Community section.
Grand Traverse County District Court Judge Harold Hunsberger is the man third from left in the photo. Mary Hunsberger Link said that, in addition to his court activities, her father was involved in the Lions Club, Bo-Gi Board and other youth-oriented organizations. She said this photo was probably related to one of those organizations.
Jim Tompkins also recognized Hunsberger in the photograph. He identified Don Wares as the man fourth from left. Tompkins added that Don Wares and his brother, Jerry owned an office supply store in downtown Traverse City. Tompkins thought the young man, second from left, could be current 13th Judicial Circuit Court Judge Thomas Power.
Elaine Ludka Kozlowski provided additional information for the History Center photo published in the April 9 Community section.
She said the date for the PTA event with Blanche Kimmet, Dora Koenig and Father Joseph Kohler is Feb. 3, 1947. The photo was printed Feb. 4, 1947 in the Record-Eagle. She also added that Kimmet was president of the St. Francis PTA from 1941-43. Her mother, Lillian Ludka, was president from 1947-48.
Kozlowski noted that the PTA Founders' Day was an all-city event held in February each year. The schools at the time of the photo would have included St. Francis, Traverse City Central, Oak Park, Boardman, Union Street, Elmwood and Immaculate Conception.
