Readers identify pastor and children

Several readers identified the pastor and children pictured in the Oct. 31 History Center of Traverse City archive photo.

Neal Kibby said this photo was taken at the old Bethlehem Lutheran Church in the 800 block of Washington Street in Traverse City.

Kibby identified Pastor John Grant Carlson in the back row.

He thought the boy on the left in the front row might be Jack Herman Donner.

He said the girl seated in front of Pastor Carlson is Joanna Alice Ask; the boy on the right is her brother, Robert George Ask.

Kibby said Norton Phillip Gassman is the boy standing on the left; the girl standing on the right is Myrna Jean Meyers.

Kibby said the students were members of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church confirmation class of 1948.

Bonnie Gamble and Grant Parsons also identified Pastor Carlson in the photo.

Kay Hoye and Norton Gassman also identified the confirmation class students and Pastor Carlson.

Marion Grueber also called to identify her sister, Myrna Jean Meyers.
