Several readers identified Gretchen Votruba as the woman standing in the middle of the History Center of Traverse City historic photo featured in the Community section on July 9.
Merry Ball recognized her Aunt Gretchen as the woman in the apron holding a jar of preserves.
Ball said her aunt was married to William Votruba, owner of Votruba Leather Goods in downtown Traverse City.
She recalled her aunt being very active in the Salvation Army and Child and Family Services in Traverse City.
Barb Vanderburg also identified Gretchen Votruba, her former kindergarten teacher at the old Elmwood School.
Vanderburg said at that time she was Ms. Gretchen Arntz.
She said Votruba was an active docent volunteer for the Dennos Museum Center.
