ACME — The Old Mission Peninsula Historical Society will meet on Thursday, Sept. 5, at the historic Hoxsie House on U.S. 31 North.
The group will meet at 7 p.m. Dorothy Dunville of the Acme Heritage Society will discuss the historical significance of the house and the society’s plans to relocate it. Hospice Fun Fair
TRAVERSE CITY — The Village at Bay Ridge will host a Fall Fun Fair benefit to support Hospice of Michigan.
The event will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, rain or shine, at the Village at Bay Ridge, 3850 Scenic Ridge. Hot dogs, Moomer’s Ice Cream, lemonade, cherry pie and more will be served for a minimum $5 donation. There also will be music by Dominic Fortuna and a silent auction. For details, call 995-9385.
TRAVERSE CITY — TART Trails is seeking nominations for the Jim Mudgett Trail Pioneer Award. Entries are due Friday, Sept. 6.
The award recognizes Jim Mudgett, who passed away in 2004. He was a founding member of the TART Trails Board of Directors, a trail chief on the Leelanau Trail, and a long-time supporter of the Vasa Pathway.
Nominations are open to anyone who has advocated for building, maintaining and using trails in the Grand Traverse region. Submissions should include specific reasons why the nominee should receive the award and any biographical information that may be relevant and helpful to the selection committee.
