Women voters meet

SUTTONS BAY — The Leelanau League of Women Voters meets at noon Wednesday, June 5, at the Leelanau County Government Center. The League’s energy committee will give a program titled “What Will Leelanau County Do for Its Future Energy Needs.” The public is welcome; call 386-5106.

HERTHA dinner

ELK RAPIDS — Diners can help the Historic Elk Rapids Town Hall Association by dining at Pearl’s New Orleans Kitchen on Wednesday, June 5.

When diners present a coupon when they place an order, Pearl’s will donate 20 percent of the check (less tax) to help HERTHA purchase new chairs. Coupons are available at the Village Market, Corner Druggist, Elk Rapids Cinema, The Moose, and online at

Gentle yoga

TRAVERSE CITY — Tina Livingston will lead a gentle yoga class Wednesdays, June 5 and 19, at the Peninsula Community Library, 2699 Island View Road.

Co-op meeting

GRAWN — Cherryland Electric Cooperative will hold its 75th annual meeting Thursday, June 6, at Wuerfel Park.

The gates open at 3 p.m. for Cherryland members, with the business meeting from 5 to 6 p.m. Members may visit the cooperative information booths, enjoy a free ballpark dinner and receive up to four free game tickets per membership. For details, call Cherryland, 486-9200.

Bike safety course

KALKASKA — Children ages 4 to 12 are invited to a bike safety course on Saturday, June 8.

The event will be held from 10 a.m. to noon at the Kaliseum, M-72 West. There will be free hot dogs, snacks, bike helmets while they last, fingerprinting and bike registration. There also will be two new bikes given away.
