Relay kick off

LAKE LEELANAU — The American Cancer Society Relay for Life of Leelanau County will kick off its fund-raising efforts with a party and Sweetheart Dance on Saturday, Feb. 16.

The event starts at 5:30 p.m. at the Lake Leelanau VFW Post, with a meet and greet. A short presentation at 6 p.m. will be followed by dancing from 6:30 to 10 p.m. to music by Willie and the Wannabe. There also will be a silent auction, children's activities, door prizes and more. Expo style tables will be set up with team supplies and there will be time for questions and answers.

The Leelanau County Relay for Life will be held July 27-28 at the Suttons Bay High School track. Sports exhibit

Traverse City — The History Center of Traverse City's Winter Sports exhibit is open and on display through March 2.

The exhibit features the history of Crystal Mountain Resort and vintage snowmobiles on loan from Top of the Lake Snowmobile Museum in Naubinway. There is a chairlift for photo opportunities, four antique snowmobiles, ski accessories and other winter sports items.

Chris (Petritz) MacInnes, a current management group owner at Crystal Mountain, will share stories from Crystal Mountain at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, at the History Center.

Exhibit hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday. Admission is $5 for all guests 5 and older. The History Center is located at 322 Sixth St. For details, call 995-0313, or visit

Manton Jamboree

Manton — The Manton Area Heritage Restoration Group will host a jamboree on Saturday, Feb. 16.
