Railroad buffs meet
Traverse City — The public is invited to the Tuesday, Feb. 5, meeting of the Railroad Historical Society of Northwest Michigan.
The group will meet at 7 p.m. at the History Center of Traverse City, 322 Sixth St. Member George Gregory will give the program.
'Poetry meets Art'
Traverse City --Reservations are due Thursday, Feb. 7, for the next lunch meeting of the Village at Bay Ridge Book Club.
The club meets at 12:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 11, in the West Building dining room, 3950 Scenic Ridge. The program features Ann Bardens-McClellan, author of "Journey to the Centre," and artist Eileen Millard. The book pairs Millard's art with Bardens-McClellan's poems.

Cadillac — Orpheum Bell with special guest Lac la Belle will take the stage for the Saturday, Feb. 9, Gopherwood Concert.

Learn about owls
Bellaire — Rebecca Lessard from the Wings of Wonder raptor rehabilitation organization will talk about owls on Saturday, Feb. 9, as part of Grass River Natural Area's Owl Month.

Glacial Hills hike
Antrim County — The Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservancy will offer a guided snowshoe hike at Glacial Hills.

Traverse City — The Bayside Travellers Dance Society will host a contra dance on Saturday, Feb. 9, with live music by Bowhunter from Kalamazoo.

Suttons Bay — The Bay Film Series continues with the Italian drama, "Shun Li and the Poet."

Wild West ballet
Traverse City — The audience is invited to take a trip to the Wild West with the Northwest Michigan Ballet Theatre's production of the original ballet, "Song of Wyoming," written by the company's artistic director Thomas Morrell.
The production combines 17 dance students ages 9-18 with professional guest dancers Jordan Semer and Philip Leete. Morrell also tapped several high school musical theatre veteran guys from Central High School and a homeschool group to fill out the cast.
Performances are at 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, in Milliken Auditorium, 1701 E. Front St. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students and seniors. Traverse City — Voca People, described by VH1 as "Blue Man Group meets Glee," will perform Sunday, Feb. 17, at the City Opera House, 106 E. Front St.

Traverse City --Area women are invited to dance in support of One Billion Rising, a worldwide event to raise awareness that one in three women will be raped and/or beaten in their lifetime. The Traverse City flash mob is slated for Feb. 14 at 5:30 p.m. at the Grand Traverse Mall near the Taco Bell.
Northwestern Michigan College will host dance practice for those wishing to take part Feb. 7 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Oleson Center.
